Almost every boiler manufacturer requires an annual service to keep the warranty valid. Skip it and a repair that should have been covered can suddenly become your bill. Beyond the paperwork, a yearly service is the single cheapest way to avoid a mid-winter breakdown.
What an annual service actually covers
A proper service is not just a visual glance and a sticker. When we service a boiler in St Albans we check the following:
- Flue integrity and a flue gas analysis reading
- Gas rate and burner pressure against the manufacturer spec
- Seals, electrodes and the heat exchanger for corrosion or blockage
- Safety devices, controls and the condensate trap
- System pressure and expansion vessel charge
Signs your boiler is overdue
Book sooner rather than later if you notice banging or gurgling when the heating fires, pressure that keeps dropping, radiators that take far longer to warm than they used to, or a yellow rather than crisp blue flame on older appliances.
