Terms & Conditions

The terms on which Heat Gap Heating, Gas & Plumbing provides quotations, work and guarantees.

Last updated: 21 July 2026

1. About us

These terms apply to work carried out by Heat Gap Heating, Gas & Plumbing (“we”, “us”, “our”), of 4 Queens Ct, St Albans AL1 4TF, United Kingdom, and to the use of our website at heatgap-heatingandplumbing.co.uk.

You can reach us on +44 7507 554236 or at info@heatgap-heatingandplumbing.co.uk.

2. Quotations and estimates

A quotation is a fixed price for clearly defined work and is valid for 30 days from the date it is issued unless we state otherwise. An estimate is our best assessment of likely cost and may change once work begins and the full extent of the job is known.

Where additional work is discovered that was not visible or reasonably foreseeable when we quoted — for example concealed pipework, existing defects, or non-compliant earlier installations — we will stop, explain the position, and agree any additional cost with you before continuing.

Quotations assume reasonable access to the working area, a normal supply of water and electricity, and that the property is safe to work in.

3. Call-out charges and pricing

We do not charge a call-out fee for attending. Where a fault requires diagnosis, we will give you a price for the repair once we know what is wrong, and you decide before any chargeable work proceeds.

Prices quoted include VAT where applicable. Materials remain our property until paid for in full.

4. Appointments and access

We will agree an appointment time with you and will let you know as soon as reasonably possible if we are delayed. Emergencies may occasionally affect scheduled appointments, and we appreciate your understanding when that happens.

You are responsible for providing access to the property at the agreed time. If we attend and cannot gain access, or the appointment is cancelled at very short notice, we reserve the right to charge a reasonable contribution towards our wasted time.

5. Gas work and safety

All gas work is carried out by Gas Safe registered engineers. We will notify work to Gas Safe Register where required and issue the relevant paperwork.

If we identify an appliance or installation that is Immediately Dangerous or At Risk, we are obliged to make it safe. This may mean disconnecting or capping off an appliance. We will explain the situation to you and, where required, notify the relevant authorities. We cannot leave an unsafe gas appliance in service.

Landlord gas safety inspections (CP12) are carried out in accordance with the Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations 1998. It is the landlord’s responsibility to ensure inspections are carried out every 12 months.

6. Guarantee on our work

Our workmanship is guaranteed for 12 months from completion, unless we state a longer period in writing.

Parts and appliances carry the manufacturer’s own warranty. Where we install a new boiler we will register the manufacturer warranty on your behalf. Manufacturer warranties usually require an annual service to remain valid, and it is your responsibility to keep servicing up to date.

The guarantee does not cover fair wear and tear, damage caused by third parties, misuse, freezing, system contamination from pre-existing sludge where we recommended a flush that was declined, or faults arising from other parts of a system that we did not install or were not asked to work on.

7. Payment

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, payment is due on completion of the work. For larger installations we may request a deposit or staged payments, which will be set out clearly in your quotation.

We reserve the right to charge statutory interest on overdue accounts under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where the customer is a business.

8. Your right to cancel

Where you are a consumer and the contract was agreed away from our business premises (for example in your home, or over the phone), you have the right to cancel within 14 days without giving a reason, under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

If you ask us to begin work within that 14-day period and then cancel, you must pay for the work already carried out and any materials already supplied. Emergency call-outs are, by their nature, usually requested to begin immediately.

To cancel, contact us by phone or email.

9. Liability

We carry public liability insurance and will put right any damage we cause through our negligence.

We are not liable for pre-existing defects, for damage arising from the age or condition of existing pipework, tanks or fittings that fail during otherwise reasonable work, or for consequential loss such as loss of income, except where the law does not allow us to exclude it.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited under English law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

10. Complaints

If something is not right, please tell us as soon as possible so we can put it right. Contact us on +44 7507 554236 or at info@heatgap-heatingandplumbing.co.uk and we will respond promptly.

Complaints relating to the safety of gas work can also be raised with Gas Safe Register.

11. Website use

The content on this website is provided for general information about our services. Guides and articles are general advice only and are not a substitute for an engineer inspecting your specific system. Never attempt gas work yourself — it is illegal for anyone who is not Gas Safe registered to carry out gas work in the UK.

If you smell gas, leave the property and call the National Gas Emergency Service on 0800 111 999 immediately.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
